I can tell you why...most people are particularly fed up with homosexuals. They are sick of seeing them, hearing them, and having their perversion be called 'normal'.
Knowing Bush is anti-gay is enough. I am sure if it was a choice between teaching queer in the highschools and sending a son to Iraq, the son goes.
